Video security & intelligence
Security camera systems built for clear visibility and confident response.
A security camera system combines cameras, networking, recording, storage, and controlled viewing. Three Factor Security designs, installs, and integrates these systems for commercial, industrial, institutional, multifamily, and residential properties across Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties, matching image detail, retention, analytics, and access to the property’s needs.
Designed around the property
Complete scope. Clear handoff. Long-term support.
We design each security camera system around the property, its operating risks, and the way footage will be used. Camera placement, lens selection, wiring, network capacity, recording hardware, storage retention, analytics, system-health awareness, incident retrieval, remote access, permissions, and future expansion are engineered together.

Coastal, marina & waterfront system planning
Design exterior security for salt air, public approaches, and difficult waterfront sightlines.
Southern California coastal homes, marinas, yacht clubs, hospitality properties, parking areas, and waterfront facilities require more than a standard exterior camera layout. Equipment, mounting, pathways, power, network, lighting, privacy, and service access are reviewed together.
Coastal equipment selection
Match housings, mounts, fasteners, seals, junctions, and enclosures to the actual salt-air, moisture, UV, temperature, and exposure conditions.
Approach & shoreline visibility
Plan views around street, beach, dock, gate, parking, service, and waterside approaches without expecting one wide camera to perform every task.
Low-light performance
Evaluate reflection, glare, darkness, movement, distance, lighting, thermal options, and the evidence required from each priority area.
Protected pathways
Coordinate conduit, cable, drainage, penetrations, equipment locations, grounding, and service access around exposed exterior conditions.
Power & connectivity
Design network, wireless, cellular, PoE, local recording, and backup-power paths around long distances and difficult waterfront infrastructure.
Privacy & public boundaries
Define lawful coverage, masking, audio, user access, retention, and disclosure practices around neighboring homes, docks, beaches, and public areas.
Coastal suitability depends on the exact product, mounting method, exposure, maintenance cadence, manufacturer requirements, and property conditions; no exterior device should be assumed appropriate solely from a general weather rating.

Common questions
Clear answers before the project begins.
Guidance is prepared and reviewed by Three Factor Security’s named Security Solutions Manager and Security Solutions Engineers. Final recommendations are based on a professional assessment, the existing infrastructure, the property’s operating needs, and the systems selected.
How much does a commercial security camera system cost?
The cost is shaped by the required result—not a generic per-camera price. Important factors include camera count and type, identification distance, lighting, analytics, recording and retention, export needs, network and PoE capacity, backup power, cable pathways, conduit, mounting height, access equipment, integrations, work-hour restrictions, permits, existing infrastructure, training, and ongoing service. We assess the property and document the complete scope before presenting a project-specific proposal.
What is the difference between UniFi Protect and AXIS camera systems?
UniFi Protect is an integrated, locally managed video ecosystem that is often a strong fit for organizations seeking straightforward administration and close coordination with UniFi networking or access control. AXIS supports a broad range of specialized cameras, analytics, open-platform integrations, and enterprise workflows. We select the platform—or a carefully engineered combination—around the property, budget, IT requirements, site count, and growth plan.
Do security cameras need internet access to keep recording?
Not necessarily. A properly configured local recorder can continue recording while the local network, recorder, storage, and power remain healthy. Internet connectivity is generally required for off-site viewing, cloud-dependent services, and remote alerts. Where appropriate, we can discuss backup connectivity for critical remote access.
How long is security camera footage stored?
Retention depends on usable drive capacity, camera count, resolution, frame rate, compression, scene activity, and the recording schedule. Thirty to ninety days is a common commercial design target, but the correct period should be based on operating, insurance, investigation, and applicable compliance requirements. We calculate storage before equipment is finalized.
Can I view cameras remotely, and who can access the recordings?
Supported systems provide secure mobile and browser viewing with role-based permissions. The customer controls authorized users and recording access. Three Factor Security does not require standing access to live or recorded video; temporary support access is provided only when the customer authorizes it and the service scope calls for it.
Can existing cameras be reused or expanded later?
Often, yes, after compatibility, condition, credentials, firmware, network capacity, recording performance, and support status are reviewed. Some ONVIF-compatible third-party cameras can be used with supported platforms, but available features may be more limited than with native devices. We identify what can be retained and what should be replaced before proposing an upgrade path.
What camera resolution and lens do I actually need?
More megapixels do not automatically create better evidence. Sensor size, lens choice, mounting distance, lighting, angle, frame rate, compression, and the required level of identification all matter. License-plate capture and long-distance identification usually need purpose-built positioning and optics rather than a wide-angle camera that is expected to cover everything.
Do you offer video analytics such as people, vehicle, line-crossing, or loitering alerts?
Yes, where the selected camera and software platform support them. Properly configured analytics can classify people or vehicles, count activity, detect line crossing or loitering, recognize license plates, and reduce routine motion notifications. Available features, accuracy, privacy considerations, and response workflows are reviewed for the specific property before they are enabled.
